Video: Ill. Officer Blocks Alleged Drunk Driver who Struck Squad Car

A Wauconda police officer responding to a wrong-way driver was injured when the vehicle struck his patrol car, which was used to partially block lanes.
An Illinois police officer after he used his squad car to block an accused drunken driver traveling the wrong way on a highway over the weekend.
The incident happened at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday after Wauconda police received a call about a car heading the wrong way on Route 176, The Daily Herald reports. Officer Jon Finze responded to the car and tried unsuccessfully to get the driver to pull over.
Finze then drove ahead and partially blocked the lanes ahead. The driver struck Finze's squad car head-on.
Finze was injured in the incident, as well as his K-9, Badger. The driver, Anthony D. Smith, was uninjured.
Smith was arrested and charged with two counts of felony aggravated driving under the influence and other charges.
